Pre-Alice's Teacup - I'm dragging my bed out of bed, we walk to the tea room, and Joe is setting up the equipment.

MealToday/TeaToday at Alice's Teacup with Joe, Michelle, Chris, Colin, and Laura. We had a great time!

TeaToday - Alice's Teacup in NYC (We briefly talked about some of the teas we drank that weren't in the episode).

Then we wrapped up our trip and eventually headed home... good times! (This is officially the end of the NYC batch, I know you're all very grateful.) :)

Here are the vids that Joe and I made (with my cam at least) between landing in NYC and meeting up with Viddler crew for the Haydenfilms Film Festival Awards Ceremony. First one is my first visit to an Apple store (the one near Central Park), the second one is in Central Park, and the third one is at the best pizza place I've ever been to in my entire life.

Videos from the Awards Ceremony and later that evening to follow later today. :)

Recent Projects - My footprint on the interweb this year
me couch
[info]misfitmonkey
I've been working on a lot of web projects this fall, and a lot of them have taken off fairly well. Since they have their own presence on the internet, I don't import them here to my blog, so they are floating out there on the net, in the event that you'd like to add them to your RSS reader, etc.

1. STeaP - http://steaptv.com - My video podcast with Joe has taken off in a huge way, with weekly episodes on tea, an upcoming tea giveaway/showdown, and the free samples from tea companies all over the world have been coming in recently requesting reviews on our show. I'm really excited about this project and how well it's taken off. Our blog (linked above) has all of our episodes and blog entries, and if you like tea, it's a great show. :) We're very proud of it.

2. Internetiquette - http://internetiquette.blogspot.com/ - I started a blog for netiquette a couple of weeks ago and I've already received an offer from an online video content site to do a segment on internet etiquette (Revision3.com), so we'll see how that pans out and we have a pretty decent readership already. I am actively recruiting other contributors who want to write about the issues of etiquette on the internet, so hit me up if you're interested. :)

3. Podcamp Ohio - http://podcampohio.com/ - I am in charge of viral marketing for this event, which will be happening on June 28, 2008. Ohio's first ever podcamp, and I am really excited about how well the planning is already going. You can find viral links, our podcast meetings, and other info at the site. If you're a podcaster or love podcast, PLEASE come! :) We're going to hit Dave & Buster's after the event for some crazy networking/partying.

4. NaNoVideo - http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node%252F402861 - I was really excited to see how well the NanoVideo project took off, with the explosion of the Viddler group that I created, getting to talk to Chris Baty himself on the phone and through email, and knowing that this year I helped Nanowrimo become even more interactive in ways that Wrimos obviously really wanted and enjoyed. I can't wait to see how I can expand on this next year, and I'm really proud of how well this year went with such last minute planning and haphazard organization. Next year I'm already planning an actual video podcast (hopefully with Joe's help). :)

5. CantoWrimo - http://brandice.net/cantoakrowrimo - If you were a part of my region's Nanowrimo group, this is where all the action is from now on, and all the videos and meeting information are on that site, including our calendar, chat room, all that stuff. We had a good time this past year with the chatrooms and making videos, so I anticipate even more craziness next year. :)

Everything else I'm doing on the web ends up here on the blog, but those are the projects that I'm a part of that you don't necessarily see here, and if you're interested in knowing more about what I love to do online, there are the links and how to find me EVERYWHERE on the interwebz. :) This has been a big year of internet projects for me, and I've discovered that I have abilities and talents in community building and organizing online that I hope to someday incorporate into my profession, which is exciting for me.

Update: STeaP, Web Projects, Video Woes
me couch
[info]misfitmonkey
Yesterday, Joe and I filmed 4 episodes of STeaP for use over the next few weeks. Jen has jumped on board to do web design and work on our logo as of today, and we'll be offering the podcast on iTunes in the upcoming weeks, with our typical lengthy episodes, as well as occasional "TeaToday" clips from both Joe and I, which will be shorter blips to tide you over until the next week's episode.

I'm really excited about this project, and it's also got me drinking a lot of different teas and learning how to properly make tea (which opens up a whole slew of teas I never knew I liked because I'd been oversteeping or 'burning' my green teas). Joe has been a lot of fun to film with and getting it up on iTunes and Viddler and our new domain is going to hopefully create a really fun community of tea drinkers. :)

I'd really like to start doing an airing of weekly episodes live on either uStream or Justin.tv, and then making them available for download/viewing right after, but I can't seem to get a concrete answer from JTV or Viddler about lifecasting/sponsoring EVDO/getting better broadcasting equipment. JTV was supposed to come through with a beta code in June when I requested one, and Colin has yet to elaborate or definitively respond to any questions about his proposal that Viddler help me go 24/7 with equipment/EVDO, etc. Guess I should've taken both of those situations with more of a grain of salt, rather than getting excited about either one, which is my own fault.

Regardless though, I'm psyched for STeaP and totally psyched to have another fun web project to contribute to that I'll also be able to share with people on my iPhone. :) Totally psyched to be on iTunes!

On a side note, I really wish someone would magically send me a Mac, because I am FURIOUS with my computer and its incapability to properly edit and create iTunes friendly videos... I swear to god, the person who buys me a Mac with the same specs as the computer I have now will be worshipped. I'm ready to rip my hair out today.

STeaP: Episode 0 (Foxtrot Tea)

So, my friend Joe and I have created a show, with a little inspiration from Gary Vanerchuk, which showcases teas, the proper preparation of said teas, and how to find the teas you will love:

I'm so excited! Joe bought a domain, so once we get more episodes going and we've established some viewers, we're going to be all spiffy and official-like.

You love it, internet people. You really do.
