Clinton Fox Interview on YouTube
me couch
[info]misfitmonkey
I fucking LOVE Bill Clinton. :) I love that he put a verbal foot up the ass of right-wing Fox News, and I love that he's still actively working with people in need in a way that actually seems like it's going to make some kind of change. He says in the interview it would be hard over an entire life time to affect change for as many people as you can during a presidential term, but I think between Clinton and Al Gore's environmental efforts, he probably WILL do more.

TV Shows Premiering Left and Right
me couch
[info]misfitmonkey
Greys Anatomy: WTF. Decide already, Meredith Grey!!!! McDreamy is stupid and makes mistakes, but you two are perfect together and he is adorable, so just forgive him so that we can get Chris O'Donnell off the show. Ps. I am way too emotionally invested in this show.

The Office: WTF. Decide already, Pam the Secretary!!!! Jim is adorable and never makes mistakes and loves you in an adorably funny and perfect way so just stop being stupid so the show can be hilarious again. Ps. I am way too emotionally invested in Jim and Pam. WAY too.

Lost: WHEN are you coming back? WHEN????? (Notice my laziness in not just checking TV Guide or something.) Ps. Sawyer is sexy hot hot and should have sex with Kate always during every episode.

How I Met Your Mother, The Class, Six Degrees, Nip/Tuck: I just started watching these and I'm freaking addicted. Must stop watching at least two of them. AT LEAST two.

Project Runway: We all know that Michael's going to win it, right? Dude has mad design skills and he's a sexy beast to boot. Can't wait for tonight's episode!

My weekend to end all weekends
me couch
[info]misfitmonkey
Well... it was really THAT stupendous of a weekend, but it was quite spiffy.

Saturday was putt putt and batting cages with our friends Walt and Kate (I have pulled every muscle in my arm as a result of a very bad session in the aforementioned cages... *struggles to write/type*), then dinner at Red Robin and some tipsy gaming back at our apartment until ungodly hours. Kate passed out on the couch, Walt passed out on the floor, and then we all went out for breakfast on Sunday.

Jim and I watched Failure to Launch yesterday afternoon because I was feeling poopy and wanting to lie around and rest, and it was much better than I'd thought it was going to be. The reviews were sort of lukewarm when it came out, so I'd never really planned on seeing it until it turned out to be the only decent un-seen flick I could find on the cable movie channel, and Jim even liked it too. I laughed a lot more than I thought I would've, and I was surprised that the previews for the movie never mentioned the actual plot, which was much more interesting than the preview made it out to be (SJP's character is actually HIRED to get McConaughey's character to move out). I give it 3 stars out of 5 and recommend it if you're interested in a light romantic comedy for a lazy day.

After the movie, we were fed free spaghetti while out to dinner with Bub's parents and then I stayed up until an indecent hour tweaking my pda and trying to find a working copy of the PPC Tamagotchi program (I found one, but it was bugged). I need games for my new toy phone! ;)

Bob Dylan Movie "I'm Not There"

I have reservations about Heather Ledger playing Bob Dylan.

BIG ONES.

On the other hand, some of the other names associated with the movie at this point are slightly promising. I'm a big fan of Julianne Moore. I'm looking forward to either enjoying this or laughing at lot through it.

TV Finale Extravanganza = May
me couch
[info]misfitmonkey
This month is the month of tv's most ridiculous season finales, jumping sharks, and leaving us hanging. I watch finales for shows that I didn't even watch all season, like American Idol, and anxiously watched the finales of the shows I grown much too emotionally invested in, like Grey's Anatomy. Here's my take on my tv addictions this year:

Top Chef - Jim and I became completely addicted to this show after I made him watch a re-run of the premiere. I already knew in the first episode that I wanted Harold to win and it was twice as awesome when he beat Tiffani the ever-changing bitch to do it. I loved Dave and his obsession with "flavors" (not to mention the "I'm not your bitch, bitch!" incident... I have to have that t-shirt), Miguel was hilarious, the junk food competition at the house was awesome, and Jim and I hated Steven right up until he gained our respect by apologizing to Candice and admitting that he was a jackass on the show on the reunion episode. The show was just a ton of fun to watch, the food was delicious, and the twists were always really juicy ones. I can't wait for next season, AND I just found out that the host, Katie, is married to Billy Joel, whom I love love love.

Alias - I haven't seen the two hour finale yet, because I recorded it on DVR for when my fellow Alias groupie and former college roommate Colleen gets back from NYC to watch it with me this weekend. DO NOT TELL ME HOW IT ALL ENDS! As far as this show goes, I didn't even watch the shows in the fall because the show lost me and I just want to see how it all ends out of loyalty to the show's fantastic first few years. I think Sydney and Vaughn lost their chemistry completely and the writing hasn't been what it used to be, but I've enjoyed the last several episodes of shark-jumping pandemonium, and I'm looking forward to finding out how it all ends.

Grey's Anatomy - THIS IS THE BEST SHOW EVER IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE. I can't even talk about the finale because I am too emotionally invested in the show and then I'll go home and watch it a fourteenth time. SO GOOD. CANNOT WAIT UNTIL NEXT SEASON.

The Office - OMG, Jim and Pam! I seriously rewound and watched again about ten times. That show is seriously just the funniest show I've ever seen. If you're one of the "British version is better, I don't WATCH the dumb American version," just bite me, because it's funny, it's good and Jim and Pam have hella chemistry going on. I can't wait to see what happens. :)

America's Next Top Model - Two things: One, I turned to Jim and said, "I want Danielle to win and I think she's got this beautiful, exotic face, but she's not going to win... that other girl is just cleaner and more classic and she's going to win for sure" right before they showed Danielle's picture. I suck at predicting finale endings, apparently, at least when it comes to ridiculous but addictive television programming. Two, DID ANYONE ON THIS PLANET SERIOUSLY LIKE JADE? I almost stopped watching because she annoyed me to the point of physical discomfort. Good lord, that was entirely too long to have to look at that wack job.

Other non-obsession finales I happened to catch - ER was good, but not like it used to be (I watched the finale just becaues I happened to catch it on and I love Abby... I didn't even know what was going really), I didn't see the Lost because I've been tivo'ing until I catch up on some eps I missed early in the season, American Idol was total bullshit because that guy could NOT sing but Prince ROCKED, Will and Grace was awful and cheesy at the end, but I loved watching all the extra goodies and outtakes and such, and I am incredibly sad that I missed an entire season of House (I have no idea why I didn't watch, but I really missed the entire season!).

Babies, druids, and Normal
me couch
[info]misfitmonkey
This past weekend was fantabuloso and hawesome to the maximum.

Why, you may ask? Well! For several reasons, of course!

Number one would be that Joe and Amy had a baby that I intend to occasionally steal and then give back once they've decided to let me babysit/kidnap the new addition to the family. Very excited for the new parents! (Plus, Joe will obviously have to start blogging again now that he will have oodles of "new parent" tales to tell. :) Joe? Maybe?)

Number two is that I am THISCLOSE to having my mount for my lvl 39 druid in WoW. I spent most of the weekend grinding xp and tonight with my Monday night with Rob and Kelley, it's going to PAY OFF, BABY. w00t!
/geekage

Number three was a movie that Jim and I watched Saturday night, Normal, which was very very good. It's a story about a man who decides to have a sex change operation after 25 years of marriage and the ordeal that his family goes through. I thought it was thought provoking and I liked that as the main character was making his/her transition, you saw so much of the complicated AND simple steps that have to be made when you're changing your life so drastically. It had it's problems, but ultimately I really liked the movie, and I liked Jessica Lange's character a lot... the anger and then resignment and then finally remaining with someone she loved even though that person was changing so drastically. There's a great scene where Lange's character explains to her husband why she would stay with him and how much he must have given up to be a husband/man for her all these years for the sake of the family.

So, there's my weekend. What am I doing tonight, you may ask?

Why, receiving a beautiful mount and getting my ass to level 40, of course! This druid's got places to go and things to cast spells on as soon as she gets home from work, HUZZAH! :)

1. I am going to go completely insane and blow up AEP Ohio. YOU SUCK, American Electric Power and the SUCKAGE of your online payment services is rivaled only by the ridiculous asshole-ish-ness of your phone payment system. I am certain that you will burn in a slow, roasting hell for a long time. Customer service = NOT IMPORTANT to AEP, and you are lucky I thought it still necessary to pay my freaking bill, you dirty, whore-ish bastards. Next time there will be NO $67.30 for YOU! (That'll show them.)

*deep breath*

2. I finally watched Thursday's The Office that Jim and I recorded and OMG PAM AND JIM KISSED!! Now I will die of impatience before next season unless I die from extreme anger at my electric company. EGAD!

Lady Brandice Townsend

[info]misfitmonkey
Upon going to google and typing in "Brandice was killed by..." for some meme, I found this:

Emerald Garden
by Andrea Kane
Friends since childhood, Lady Brandice Townsend and Lord Quentin Steel naturally turn to each other for comfort when Brandi's father and Quentin's parents are killed in a coach accident. Even though Quentin has been away for four years in the navy, Brandi and Quentin find that they are still as comfortable with each other, and affectionate toward each other as they have always been. Perhaps more. But when it is discovered that their parents were murdered, Brandi and Quentin must put their new feelings for each other on hold until the murderer is revealed. Brandi was no more than a child when Quentin left home to fight Napoleon. But now she is a woman, a very beautiful woman, a fact that has not gone unnoticed by Quentin, or his brother Desmond who is now the new Duke of Colverton. But something unsettling occurred between Quentin's brother and their father shortly before the accident, and rumor has it that the Duke had planned to change his will. Did this have something to do with the murders, or was it Brandi's father and his financial situation? The mystery gets ever deeper, as do Brandi and Quentin's feelings for each other and soon it becomes a race against time to discover the murderer before Brandi becomes the next victim. While trying to discover the truth behind their beloved parents' death, Brandi and Quentin discover true depths of their feelings for each other, and come to know just how precious and enduring their love is. But another is waiting in the wings to destroy all they hold dear, and will stop at nothing to save himself from being discovered. Andrea's strength lies in her characters. Regardless of her setting, plot or time period, Andrea consistently delivers memorable individuals that remain with her readers, offering comfort, a laugh, or a sigh whenever they open the pages. With her writing, Andrea Kane brings to the world that which it is sorely lacking...tenderness, understanding, and of course love, the love that begins in the heart and grows to encompass the soul. Andrea Kane has the winning combination...imagination and talent! Emerald Garden once again proves why readers love Andrea Kane!Diane Potwin

My name has gone from being made up to being in cheesy romance novels. I even met someone on MySpace a couple days ago with my name who also makes jewelry... how weird is that?

Brandice used to be such a weird name, and nowadays, people actually correctly pronounce it more often than they get it wrong, which NEVER used to be the case. It's very strange... am I destined to someday become the bearer of a boring everyday name, perhaps the equivalent of Bob or Sally?

I always used to hate my name, and now I'm sad to be Brandi to most people... I've grown to like the unique sound of my moniker, and now it's becoming a common household name. I still hope I can someday merge back into Brandice, especially after discovering that I'm allergic to brandy, which I'll elaborate on later, because I have a taudry, addictive television show to watch.

Between Grey's Anatomy and The Office, I am seriously in television sitcom heaven these days... if Lost starts getting really good again, I may be completely engulfed by my addiction. If Grey's ever becomes available for download on iTunes, I will be lost forever.

Happy Eve, All!

[info]misfitmonkey
I'm soooo excited, because I'm going to my grandmother's house today for Christmas Eve dinner, something I haven't been to in upwards of five years, and my GRANDMOTHER invited me, according to my mother. (This is a very good thing.) Jim is also invited, which is excellent because I think I would panic if I had to go to my first actual "family" function for MY family in over four years by myself.

Before I leave for dinner though, Jim and I are both run around separately to finish last minute shopping endeavors, I want to hop up to work to give some of the residents some things for Christmas, and THEN we can leave.

I'm very rushed.

Yet unshowered and blogging.

Last night I surprised Jim by taking him to see A Christmas Story in the theater and I took him out to dinner too. :) I'm an excellent girlfriend, even if he figured out the suprise ahead of time. I'm an even more excellent girlfriend when you consider that I hate that dumb movie and had no desire to see a special theater showing of the old "classic." (Blech.)

It was fun though. :) I really need to go now, MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE TO ALL AND SUCH!

Oh, and p.s., I got my camera back! Yip!

The Office = Best EVER
me couch
[info]misfitmonkey
So, in addition to my frequently mentioning that The Office on NBC is one of the funniest shows in the history of the world, I just wanted to state that the episode called "The Fight" in which Jim hides Dwight's entire desk and work materials in the bathroom and then says, "You know a 'ton of 14-year-old girls?'" to Michael right before Dwight sucker punches Michael in the gutt is my FAVORITE episode.

Except the "Christmas Party" episode, because Jim's present to Pam was uber adorable and I think the Jim/Pam chemistry is the best of all sitcom time.

Seriously, I want someone to put a desk in a bathroom in real life. I love that show entirely too much.

Hats, cookies, and The Office on iTunes, yip!
me couch
[info]misfitmonkey
Today and yesterday were the world's most eventful days in history, because I, Brandice, spend 48 hours figuring out how to make a crochet hat, and then I made a fucking purple crochet hat. I cannot explain to you the idiotic amount of frustration involved, but there was some serious elation when I finally finished my first hat. Go straight to hell if you think that's lame, because I need the little victories right now.

I also made chocolate chip cookies with Jim's mom, Cathy today. They were tasty and I ate way too many of them for someone who is supposed to have adopted a healthy diet. Apparently my diet is on complete hiatus for the holiday season. Fuck. Pumpkin muffins are too good to pass up ANY time though, so I'm willing to take a vacation from healthy eating for the holidays.

My apartment is in a serious state of travesty when it comes to outward appearances. My apartment is looking seriously out of style, to the point where I'm beginning to wonder if there's a floor anymore. If anyone has seen the beat-up, hardwood floors that go at the bottom of my apartment, please alert me, and tell them to make themselves known. I'm tired of walking on my clothes and little bits of crumpled paper.

I really dig that iTunes has more and more tv shows available for download now. They hooked me into setting up an account when they started making Lost episodes available for $1.99 the day after they air on tv, and now they have THE OFFICE.

If you don't like The Office, you are an asshole, because it's the funniest fucking show in the entire world, and I am totally and ironically smitten with that Jim guy who's smitten with the secretary. Funniest show in the entire world. Go watch an episode right now, because that's what I'm doing once iTunes tells me that the pilot is done downloading.

Go. Download. The Office. The end.
